Reef

Reef are a British rock band from Glastonbury whose present line-up comprises frontman Gary Stringer, Jack Bessant on bass, Amy Newton on guitar and Luke Bullen on drums. To date, the band have sold in excess of three million albums worldwide.

Since forming in 1993, Reef have released six studio albums, three of which reached the UK Top 10, and racked up nine Top 40 singles. Reef’s debut LP, ‘Replenish’, contained the UK Top 20 hit song “Naked” and went on to achieve gold status in the UK, leading to tours with Paul Weller, Soundgarden and the Rolling Stones.

In 1996, Reef released their most successful single to date, “Place Your Hands”. Written by Stringer following the death of his grandfather, the song rocketed into the Top 10 and laid the groundwork for their sophomore album, ‘Glow’, in 1997. Produced by George Drakoulias (The Black Crowes), ‘Glow’ went straight in at #1 in the UK charts and also featured the tracks “Come Back Brighter” (UK Top 10), “Consideration” (UK Top 20) and “Yer Old” (UK Top 40). “Place Your Hands” established Reef’s popularity and continues to resonate with audiences globally. It was famously used by radio DJ Chris Evans to introduce a segment of his cult TV show TFI Friday and synced in the NHS Food Scanner app ad. Gabrielle Aplin covered and released the song at the beginning of 2024.

Reef’s latest album, ‘Shoot Me Your Ace’, which peaked within the UK Top 20, was released on 29th April 2022. The ‘Shoot Me Your Ace’ UK tour took place in April 2022 to promote the release of their new album and included a date at London’s Kentish Town Forum.
